About Modern Composers

The Modern Composers International Music Festival (ModComFest) was launched in 2016, followed by editions in 2019, 2022, and 2025. Dedicated to promoting modern and contemporary composers, the festival has earned widespread acclaim for highlighting innovative voices and enriching the classical music canon.

Returning in September 2026, the fifth edition will take place in Barcelona, with a special edition dedicated to the music and legacy of Max Richter. Hosted at two of the city’s most iconic venues in the form of the Hospital de Sant Pau and the Palau de la Música Catalana, this latest iteration continues the festival’s mission of championing the finest contemporary composers who have come to define the sound of our age, and will feature renowned ensembles and artists, including the Franz Schubert Filharmonia, as well as violinists Marc Bouchkov, and María Florea; violists Diemut Poppen and Joaquin Riquelme; cellists Sebastian Klinger, Bruno Hurtado, and Alexander Chaushian; pianists Giuliano Mazzoccante and Sofia Raichenko, and many more.
