Concert Dedicated to Tigran Mansurian’s 87th Birthday Celebrates His Enduring Legacy

On January 28, 2026, a concert titled “Symphonic Mansurian” was held at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan, dedicated to the 87th birthday of renowned Armenian composer Tigran Mansurian. The evening honored one of the most influential figures in contemporary classical music, whose artistic achievements have earned him international recognition, including being honored by ModComFest for his outstanding contribution to modern composition.

The concert was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia together with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. It brought together leading representatives of Armenia’s cultural life to celebrate the life and work of the composer, born on January 27, 1939, and recognized as a People’s Artist of Armenia.

Tigran Mansurian’s music is admired for its spiritual depth, philosophical clarity, and distinctive musical language that bridges Armenian tradition and contemporary expression. His works are performed regularly on major international stages, including London, Paris, Rome, Milan, and New York, affirming his global standing as a composer of exceptional artistic authority.

Among the attendees was Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, who emphasized the special emotional bond between Mansurian’s music and the public. She noted that his compositions speak directly to listeners’ inner worlds, creating a rare sense of shared reflection and cultural continuity.

The “Symphonic Mansurian” concert stood as a meaningful tribute to Tigran Mansurian’s 87th birthday and his lasting impact on Armenian and world music. Separate from festival programming, the event nevertheless reflected the same values celebrated by ModComFest—artistic integrity, depth of expression, and a lifelong commitment to contemporary music.
