Josep Fuster to Perform at ModComFest 2026, Celebrating the Music of Max Richter
Born in Villanueva de Castellón, Valencia, Josep Fuster is widely recognised as one of Spain's leading clarinettists. A graduate of the Superior Conservatories of Valencia and Barcelona, he has built an outstanding international career as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator. Since 1993, he has performed with the Barcelona Symphony and Catalonia National Orchestra (OBC), while also serving as Professor of Clarinet and Chamber Music at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) since its foundation.
Throughout his distinguished career, Fuster has appeared with numerous prestigious orchestras, including the National Orchestra of Spain, the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Orquesta de Cadaqués, and the National Chamber Orchestra of Andorra, among many others. His performances have taken him to audiences across Europe, the United States, and Japan.
A passionate advocate for chamber music, Josep Fuster is the co-founder of several acclaimed ensembles, including Harmonia Quintet de Vent, Barcelona 216, Diabolus in Musica, and Trio Cervelló. He has collaborated extensively with renowned ensembles and artists, while his extensive discography has earned widespread critical acclaim. Particularly celebrated are his recordings of clarinet quintets by Mozart, Weber, Krommer, Bärmann, Spohr, and Reicha with the Glinka Quartet, which have received the highest praise from international critics.
Equally committed to contemporary music, Fuster has premiered numerous works written especially for him by composers such as Xavier Benguerel, Jordi Cervelló, Zulema de la Cruz, and Juan Medina, further demonstrating his dedication to expanding the clarinet repertoire.
