Sebastian Klinger to Perform at ModComFest 2026, Celebrating the Music of Max Richter
Born in Munich and raised in Spain, Sebastian Klinger began studying the cello at the age of six before continuing his musical education with two of the world's most distinguished cellists, Heinrich Schiff in Salzburg and Vienna, and Boris Pergamenschikow in Berlin. His remarkable talent quickly earned him numerous national and international awards, culminating in his victory at the prestigious German Music Competition in Berlin in 2001.
Following this success, Klinger made acclaimed appearances at some of Germany's leading festivals, including Schleswig-Holstein, Rheingau, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Ludwigsburg, while also giving multiple recitals at Amsterdam's celebrated Concertgebouw. Soon afterwards, he was invited by the Cologne Philharmonie to join the prestigious Rising Stars Series of the European Concert Hall Organisation, launching an international touring career that brought him to many of the world's foremost concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Konzerthaus Vienna, the Konserthus Stockholm, and the Concert Hall of Athens.
As a soloist, Sebastian Klinger has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the National Orchestra of RAI Turin, and numerous other distinguished ensembles. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with an impressive roster of internationally renowned conductors, among them Mariss Jansons, Antoni Wit, Mario Venzago, Christoph Poppen, Oksana Lyniv, Markus Poschner, Michael Sanderling, and Joshua Weilerstein.
Widely admired for his expressive interpretations, refined musicality, and commanding stage presence, Sebastian Klinger has established himself as one of the most respected cellists of his generation, captivating audiences across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
