Soloist Spotlight: Dolors Chiralt to Perform at ModComFest 2026

ModComFest 2026 is delighted to welcome distinguished Spanish oboist Dolors Chiralt as one of the festival's featured artists.

Born in Moncada, Valencia, Dolors Chiralt has established herself as one of Spain's leading oboists through an outstanding career as a performer and educator. She completed her studies at the Valencia Higher Music Conservatory, where she received both the Final Degree Honour Prize and the prestigious Mercedes Massi Prize for the best academic record. She later continued her studies at the Rotterdam Conservatory with renowned oboist Emanuel Abbühl, earning a higher diploma in solo performance.

From 1992 to 1996, Chiralt was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, appearing as a soloist at the prestigious Auditorio Nacional de Música. Her artistic development has been shaped through studies and masterclasses with some of the world's foremost oboists, including François Leleux and Maurice Bourgue.

A passionate chamber musician, she represented Spain at the European Broadcasting Union Meeting in 1994 and won First Prize at the Montserrat Alavedra International Chamber Music Competition as a member of the Haizea Wind Quintet.

Alongside her performing career, Dolors Chiralt is highly respected as an educator. She has given masterclasses throughout Spain and has worked with numerous youth orchestras and advanced music programs. Since 1997, she has served as Assistant Principal Oboe of the Orchestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, and since 2001 she has been Professor of Oboe and Chamber Music at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC).

Her participation in ModComFest 2026 brings to the festival an artist celebrated for her musical excellence, extensive orchestral experience, and dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians.
